Black and White Mini Album

For so long I've been eyeing up everyone and their mini ablums.  I've wanted to try and create something that resembled what I was seeing, but I was at a total loss on where to begin.  I started Googling mini albums and found tons of tutorials and pictures.  Next I just needed to settle on one that I figured I could recreate, gather some items and get started.

I gathered chip board and black cardstockand created the base of the album.  It was actually much easier than I thought it was going to be.  After learning how to hinge the pages, I can see me creating as thick as I need for albums!

Now I've had this paper pack in my stash for WAY too many years.  I'm a self proclaimed hoarder when it comes to scrapbooking paper and I'll be the first to admit it, so I learning to start using up the paper so that I can replace it with pretty new papers!  This paper pack was from  "Me and My Big Ideas" and is called Black and White.  I used pink shimmer trim, a retired washi tape and adorned it with a retired embellishment from Close To My Heart.  I also used a ribbon to tie the album closed from CTMH.

The spine of the album I adhered a metal embellishment from CTMH.  I can still slide a piece of paper under it to put a title in or wording.

Here is the back of the album.  Nothing too fancy, just repeated the pink shimmer trim.

The inside of the album threw me off with the pockets and flaps, but I was determined to learn.  On the front inside cover I added a pocket and put a decorative edge on top.  I then put three mats to put pictures or journaling on.  The little purple flower embellishment was just one from my stash drawer of miscellaneous embellishments.  The opposite page has a flap attached.  I used another embellishment from CTMH to just give it some flair.

Here are the three mats that are in the pocket.  The front one there is a glittery paper that really looks fantastic in person!

Here is just a quick shot of the under side of the flap.  I wish you could see the metallic look to this paper.

The next couple pages I had fun with!  A flap and a piece to hold mats.  I used a Picture My Life card from CTMH to put a bit of journaling on.

These papers are velvet!  I really loved the soaring heart and wanted to showcase it.  The little piece holding the mats on the right hand page, I placed a metal key, like it was the key to some secrets.

This is another page that the picture does no justice for.  The paper is a light green with a metallic design.  The left page is just a page on it's own.  I really didn't want to add anything to cover it up.  Theright page has just a small band to hold the mats.  I added pink shimmer trim and a few metallic flower embellishments from Close To My Heart.

A picture of the mats out of the pocket.  You can see the reflection from the metallic design on the back paper.

At this point I was getting more comfortable with creating these pages.  I was understanding how they worked and how to build them to my liking.  Each page has a flap and the page on the left has a pocket added to it.  I used an embellishment from my stash because I loved the idea of putting the word DREAM on here.

A couple mats to fit in the pocket.

A view of the flaps open.

Now the back pages I was ready for!  I will admit that I made a mistake here, GASP!  On the left page I put the paper that I meant to put on the right side.  I pain stakingly made sure that the pink metallic butterfly was in the cut, but being on the left side, it is hidden by the two pockets.  Believe me, this upset me a bit, but I worked with it and went with the flow.

Here is a picture with all the mats out.  I really love the velvet and the different metallics on these papers.  They really added to the pop of the pages.  Added a CTMH embellishment and VOILA!

I added another purple flower on the insideof this flap.  I just wanted to add a bit more colour.

Well, that is my very first attempt at a mini album and I have to say that I'm completely hooked!  I can't wait to start creating another one.  I've got some more idea's for flaps and pockets and want to see them completed!  I'll continue to watch tutorials and look at pictures because as I said, there are some really talented people out there creating mini albums!

Well thanks for looking!
